Compress Images

Compress JPEG, PNG and WebP images with browser-local quality settings.

How to use

  1. Choose one or more PNG, JPEG or WebP images.
  2. Select JPEG or WebP and a quality level, then compare the original and output sizes.

About these formats

JPEG and lossy WebP reduce file size by discarding some detail. Re-encoding can make an image larger, and this tool reports the actual difference.

Browser limitations

PNG compression is not offered as a lossless optimizer in this release. Only JPEG and WebP lossy outputs are available.

Frequently asked questions

Does 100% quality mean lossless?

No. JPEG and lossy WebP re-encoding can still change pixels.

What about transparency?

Use WebP to preserve transparency; JPEG replaces transparency with a background color.
